For the past year or so I have used mainly the lore of fire, due to all but 1 spell having the ability to directly cause damage. I've got a game soon where I shall be fielding a 2nd Generation Slann mage-priest, who is tooled up to be magic heavy. I'm looking through the rule book and I'm starting to see uses for both lore of Metal and Lore of Shadows. As Slann mage-priests can select from different lores I'm wondering what Lores and spells do you find more effective.

Can't wait to see how a 2nd Gen Slann Mage-Priest preforms.

Mmmmm, me too.
I was using this combo,

Urza's Healing Hand
Pha's Illumination
Comet of Cassandora
Unseen Lurker
And steal soul.

Works fairly well, only down side is you have to take an artifact to get that fifth spell in there.

hmmm, ill have to write that down. the artifact is worth it though.

The problem with this is that you don't get to select your spells, only the lores that you roll on.

Roll on? Where does it say that? The artifact allows an extra spell. And as far as I read, though I'll re-read to make sure that they can take ANY lore. Not roll for any lore, I thought it was just the human armies who had to roll for lores.
